The 1970s
Our Legacy Begins
Originally established as the Kingston Artists’ Association Inc. (K.A.A.I.) in 1977, Modern Fuel was created to be a central hub for artists and the community to convene. The 1970s were a time of grassroots art events, live music performances, and community programming in celebration of the newly established organization. K.A.A.I began its journey as an organization downtown at 21A Queen Street., a location that would serve as a home base until 2015 when the gallery space was moved to the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning.
