Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre’s Archives are an educational resource created to provide access to our permanent Archival collection for research, access to cultural heritage, and the preservation of vulnerable media.

Copyright Held by Artists
All artists featured in the Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre archives hold sole (exclusive) copyright, or have provided documentary evidence of shared (nonexclusive) copyright, for each of the works provided for display.
The Centre will not knowingly permit reproductions of the works of art in the exhibition for purposes of sales, rental, loan or distribution of any kind without the written permission of the Artist.
Electronic Publication
As stated in our contracts with artists, Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre has the right to photograph, electronically reproduce in any media and/or to otherwise reproduce images of the work, parts of the Artist’s statement or other material related to the work (for example: excerpts from interviews with the Artist, images of the Artist, etc.) for the purpose of producing a catalogue and/or other didactic material (be it in print, video and/or audio, CD-ROM, Web page, digital archive or other temporary or permanent storage method).
This documentation may be of the exhibition as a whole, and may form part of a catalogue and publication by the Centre. A nonexclusive copyright to any and all of this documentation is held by Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre/Kingston Artist’s Association Inc. The Centre will not authorize the use of these materials by any third party without the written permission of the Artist.
Didactic Material
Any digital reproductions of exhibition documentation, artist statements, curatorial texts, performance documentation, or other works included in our online archive are intended to be used as didactic material. These resources have been made available to the public to improve access to cultural heritage in the arts as one of the longest-running artist-run centres in Canada.
Storage of Media at the Queen’s University Archives
Modern Fuel is not affiliated with Queen’s University. The organization has partnered with the Queen’s University Archives and Vulnerable Media Lab on this project to best digitize, store, and preserve our archival material. The bulk of Modern Fuel’s physical archives is stored at the Queen’s University Archives as part of our ongoing partnership.
