The 1980s
Expansion, Collaboration, and Activism
The 1980s were a time of expansion for the K.A.A.I as the organization put down roots in the community and branched out into partnerships with many local organizations to present exhibitions and events. This decade featured many events related to activism on the local, provincial, national landscapes as K.A.A.I encouraged artists to get involved with the political discussions of the time (examples of this include the Silent Voices exhibit against Nuclear action and the Six Days of Resistance Against the Censor Board film screenings).
