Poitras’s work is an investigation of the various accidental marks found in her surroundings. She uses these found marks with their different qualities to inform her paintings and create challenging juxtapositions.

Poitras’s work is an investigation of the various accidental marks found in her surroundings. She uses these found marks with their different qualities to inform her paintings and create challenging juxtapositions. Through processes of interpretation and layering she links these marks together to create her own new accidents. These works are about experimenting with colour and shape and learning how they relate and interact with each other. The focus of these works is not to create a unified, well-balanced composition but to allow the viewer to follow trains of thought.
