Cleaning House
Andrea Graham – 2014

Inspired by mound-building termites, Andrea Graham’s new exhibition is a call to action to “clean house”. Termites are recyclers. Beneath the tall towers exists an extensive system of subterranean nests, tunnels and conduits containing a system working for the good of the colony. Some termites not only recycle everything they use, but are vital in the balance of the regional ecosystem. It is time for us, in our own towers, to concern ourselves with what resources are utilized to maintain our way of life. Not only are we not using waste as it is created, we are generating it at a catastrophic pace to the detriment of humankind.
